The concept of The Energy Body may seem confusing at first, especially if you are not accustomed to thinking about the unseen aspects of ourselves. Consider how we process thoughts and feelings. We don’t see our feelings, but they are present in our awareness and can even create physical responses when we experience various feelings. Think about how you may tend to hold your breath or clench your teeth when you are tense or upset, and how when excited, your heart might race.
The mind exists not only in the brain, but also throughout the body. The nervous system extends to every organ and tissue in the body and so the mind exists here also. It is also known that the mind even extends outside the body in a subtle energy field 2 to 3 feet thick called the aura. It is also called the Energy Field or the Energy Body.
Therefore, our negative thoughts are not just in the brain, but also collect in various locations throughout the body and in the aura. The places where negative thoughts and feelings collect is where Ki (or Energy, Chi or Prana) is restricted in its flow. The physical organs that exist at these locations are restricted in their functioning. If the negative thoughts and feelings are not eliminated quickly, illness can result.
The negative thoughts and feelings that are lodged in the unconscious mind/body are the greatest problem as we are not aware of them and therefore we have a difficult time changing or eliminating them.
All of the techniques utilized at Dragonfly Holistic Works consider the energy body when consulting with a client.
Dr. Andrew Weil describes energy medicine as a new frontier in medical treatment, a complimentary modality to promote wellness and healing. He predicts that all of the "energy medicine" modalities, such as energy therapies (such as Reiki), Acupuncture, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Homeopathy "will enter the medical mainstream in the coming decades, as researchers and clinicians learn more about their benefits and how they might work."
Studies show that the electrical impulses generated by one person's heart can affect the electrical impulses in the brain of another person sitting a few feet away. The Mayo Clinic has researched the use of energy therapy with patients before and after surgery, and has found that those receiving energy therapy sessions have faster recovery times than the control subjects.
Clearing and balancing your energy field can enhance, shorten, and provide the catalyst for recovery of physical and emotional imbalances and disorders.
Many health care professionals, hospitals, surgeons, hospices, mental health practitioners, chiropractors, and spiritual counselors are adding energy therapy to their prescribed treatment plan to assist their clients in self-healing and support.
